Introducing the Vinyl on Vinyl line-up
Miguel Paulo Borja is a visual artist working mostly in acrylic and oil paint. Having both an affinity for the stroke-work of abstract impressionism and being heavily influenced early on by the more analytical surrealist movement, he combines the two to create a world of his own. His style is raw and unapologetic, much like his process which gives way for a communion between will and accident; form and abstraction.
Through this automatist progression, he is able to conjure figures that seem to share his introverted outlook towards society. They hide themselves behind a heavy background of abstract impasto; with the help of the viewer’s eye, creatures and objects are slowly made known. The exploration into the unascertained creates a process in which the search for purpose within abstract folds inspire him to keep creating.
